happy new year 2006!
Happy New Year! For New Years Eve we took Lochie to the movies for the first time ever to see "Chicken Little". We wondered if he'd still be too young but decided that if he started fussing we'd just go and it'd be on DVD in a few months anyway. Turned out he was incredible! He sat through the whole thing and gasped at the exciting parts and wanted to hold Daddy's hand in the scary parts!I took his inflatable booster seat with us and also a fleece blanket. I propped him up on the cushy booster and lay the blanket across his legs so he'd have a little valley for his popcorn!I took a sippy
cup of juice for him and he put it in his cupholder. David and I kept looking at him sitting up between us like a big boy laughing at the movie with a mouthful of popcorn and drinking from his cup and putting it back in the armrest in the dark and got a little teary (well - I got teary and David chuckled at me for doing so!)... our baby is now a big boy!He thoroughly enjoyed the movie and was even more well behaved than the kids sitting in front of us who looked about 5 and 7! We were very proud of him!
We went to
the Overland Park Cinemas (cheapy movies) and you can buy a food ticket for $3.50 for adults that includes your admission, large popcorn, soda pop and candy each. For $10 the three of us had a great night out!Afterwards we went to Primo's for dinner. It's an all-you-can-eat pizza restaurant - lots of families and kids there. You can request whatever pizza you want and they make it and put it out. They also have dessert pizzas (german chocolate, cherry, apple crisp, cinnamon sugar and lemon crumble), a salad bar and pasta.
We had a lovely night and David is now putting Lochie to bed after a bath so he and I will kick back now and watch Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve (unfortunately not hosted by Dick again this year after his stroke last year - we have to put up with Regis Philbin again this year!) then crash as we get to sleep in tomorrow (David has the day off and hopefully Lochie will crawl into bed with us and let us have a sleep-in!).
Hope you all have a wonderful New Year and may God bless all our dear family and friends in 2006 with happiness, good health and prosperity. Happy New Year!
