Preparing for new beginnings...

Well its almost 3am and I am still up - first day back at school for me tomorrow and first day of day care for Lochie. We had a homework assignment to do and I just finished it. Scanned it up but it was too large to fit in 2 scans so you can't see the middle. The middle is pretty much blank with a pencil sticker on it and says "I like to colour in". The middle is blank because we're waiting on some prints I ordered from Snapfish - used to use ToGo photo so hope they are as good. We will add a pic of Lochie and Carly together and Uncle Danny & Auntie Katie, and I had one of Mom from the baby shower I think she liked and one of our cat Tussy. They will be laminated at Lochie's day care later this week and put up at toddler eye level so the teachers can interact with the kids about their families and home lives etc. I thought it wasn't until kids were around 8 or 9 that the parents stayed up all night to help them with last-minute homework assignments... didn't expect this at age 2! I'm a bit sheepish to admit that the competitive nature in me wanted Lochie's poster to be the best so I went to extra effort in designing a crocodile along the top border, and used some of the photo colour stickers he got from his grandparents for his birthday... how pathetic of me but at least I can admit it and have a chuckle!

I am kind of misty-eyed tonight - labelling all of his school things... we've never really had to label anything of his before because he never went anywhere without us. We are going to drop him off at 6:30am and hang around for about 40 minutes - then try and beat the traffic back to drop David off at work before 7:30am. I don't have lectures this week until Thursday because most of my new class is in Spokane taking their dental anesthesia boards (I won't take mine til December in L.A. - ....right, Danny? *wink*) but I have a bunch of prep work for clinic and some make-up work to do (I am graduating early in December 2005 instead of April/May 2006 - and have 16 weeks to make up some work and complete all my courses which is why Lochie is in day care 3 days a week now).

I know he will do just great - he is a real little firecracker and has such a funny personality with a great sense of humour. Last night we went out for dinner as a last day of vacation treat and he started mugging up and being silly. After repeated warnings and stern looks, I had to lean down and *very* quietly but *very* firmly tell him to start behaving himself at the dinner table. He looked at me, looked at David, reached over and grabbed David's hand, bent his head and started praying! He said a whole bunch of mumbo-jumbo baby words softly then "Men!" (amen). We burst out laughing - seemed like he was praying for help when he was in strife with Mum! He might have a tendency to be the class clown at day care - he loves attention and anything he does that is met with a favourable reaction or laughter, he will repeat... a lot!

Well I'll have about 2 hours sleep now before getting up for the day. I really have to work on my sleep patterns this semester - but for a long while now I've been functioning on about 3-5 hours sleep at night then a 1-2 hr nap in the day while Lochie naps... don't know what I'd do with an 8 hour slumber!

Will update with pics on how he went on his first day later.
